For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

📌 MY REVIEW:
The plot of the story is very unique. I watched the movies The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner which were adopted from the novels, the three have the similarities were they entered a competition. The difference is The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner competes for survival while The Selection competes for the being the  wife of Prince Maxon and be the princess of the Illéa.

America Singer, unique name right? . America , once lived a normal life together with her secret relationship with Aspen. America's world will change from living in the 5th caste, were she belongs as a musician, to one of the 35 girls competing for the crown. As America entered to the castle, her determination and perseverance will be tested as she mingle with other girls from different caste, thinking everything would not be possible from winning the competition.

As America lives her life in the castle, she will discover how everything works. The eye-opening part of this story is how the caste works in the nation of Illea. How people live their lives base from the caste they belong. This story affects me in a more complicated issue especially in my country, the Philippines. Although its a long time ago of being captive of the other nation, it still has the same situation happening in my country were there's still a big gap between the rich and poor people.

The Selection is not your typical love story that fight for the person they truly love but also fighting for the nation real freedom. This book opens other door of issues and problem in our surroundings which are really happening in our time. A great book to look forward in the next The Selection Series.
